Abstract

Breast cancer develop from damage to a person’s gene that occurs by chance after they are born. There is no risk of passing this gene on to the offspring [1]. Though no known cause of breast cancer has been established worldwide but researches and studies have shown a very strong link between risk factors and breast cancer. Some of these risk factors are; prolonged exposure to hormones such as estrogen and progesterone, body fat and adult weight gain, alcohol consumption, family history, less breastfeeding. Breast cancer is about 100 times more common in women than men. Less than 1% of incidence of breast cancer occurs in men [2]. This is a significant ratio that illustrate that many women get breast cancer. The risk factors listed above are factors that studies have shown over the years that have strong connection to breast cancer and some of this factors are common in women which may answer the question as to ‘’why do so many women get breast cancer?’’.
