The essence of political public relations activities or strategies is to lobby for support. The application of political public relations strategies in party campaigns is very common and critical among political parties. The People’s Democratic party PDP and All Progressive Congress APC fully deployed these strategies in the 2015 general elections. Among the strategies was social media, courtesy call/visits, opinion poll, monitoring agencies or associations, liaising with diplomats and presidents of other countries. Donation of medical, electrical, clothing and food materials was also a common strategy
From the results, it is clear that even though there were four front runners, emerging political calculations and framing indicated that the race was narrowed down to a straight between Jonathan and Buhari. And although Buhari was presented (framed) better than Goodluck Jonathan, electoral outcome did not tow that line. Thus the electrical outcome was a function of the personality involved but on the structure and capacity of the political party of the contestant as well as their religious affiliations.
I am part of millions of Nigeria citizens happy to see our president back after his vacation that lasted more than expected. I am very sure it is not a deliberate act but knowing full well that there is a lot of hidden fact clear to people close to him among family and political mate. But my question is that; could that be a conspiracy?
We all want the reality, not the dream, the goal nor the plan. Whether from spiritual, psychological, philosophical or even metaphysical point of view, there is always a process towards something. That is the natural law of cause and effect.
Background The Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution introduced in a period referred to as Prohibition during which the production, distribution as well as the sales of alcoholic beverages was unlawful. The passage of the Eighteenth Amendment in 1919 was the craving success of the temperance movement but it soon became highly infamous. Crime rates increased during prohibition as gangsters; for instance, AL Capone became a wealthy form; profitable and yielding and usually a violent black market for Alcohol. The Federal Government was incapable of eliminating the tide; corruption was proved to be a nearly challenging task. In 1932; a wealthy industrialist was against the Eighteenth Amendment as they expressed their opinion As more and more Americans were against the Eighteenth Amendment, a political movement enticed rapidly for its repeal. Also; repeal was complexed by grassroots politics. Notwithstanding; the United States (US) constitution provided two means of formally approving constitutional amendments; only one of them is been applied up till date and that was for the approval by the state legislatures of three-fourth (3/4) of the states. Also; the wise decision of the day was that the lawmakers were either simply fearful or behold ends the temperance lobby. As a result of that reason; when congress officially suggested repeal of prohibition on February 20, 1933 (with the requirements of two-thirds having voted in approval in each house; 269 to 121 in the United States (US) House of Representatives and 63 to 21 in the United States (US) senate). It selected the second ratification (approval) method set up by Article V that was being through States conventions. The Twenty-First Amendment (Amendment XXI) is the sole constitutional amendment approved by State Conventions rather than by the approval of the State Legislatures.
The missing link between politics with people is seriously alarming when people are not full partakers in a country democracy. Are the process of democracy and institutions capitalizing and capturing on the enthusiasm and energy showcased by the people most especially the youths around the globe. A quick glance may depict that democracy is thriving as citizens across the globe are mobilizing on the streets so that their demand can be heard. Nevertheless; upon closer glance, it is clear that there has been a serious setback in connecting these demands to democratic politics. And it is politics–political parties, governments and parliaments –which can eventually deliver on the demands of citizens
